One of the most common complaints the optometrists hear from those who wear contacts is that they make their eyes feel dry.
Dry eye syndrome is a usual issue faced by contact lens users and non-users alike. However, this problem can be felt more by those who wear contacts when they begin to become dry.
This syndrome is quite a typical cause of contact lens discomfort among wearers. That is why contact lens companies like Acuvue have come out with special contacts designed for dry eyes. Alternatively, you may also want to consider opting for ortho-k, which is where you wear contacts at night, with the goal of reshaping your eyes on an incremental level, in order for you to be able to see during the day without having to wear contacts at all.
Fortunately, there exist remedies that work well for contact-related dry eye issues.
If you happen to experience dry eye symptoms like irritated, itchy and red eyes when you wear contacts, switching to another type of contact lens or care product may a times can make your eyes feel better and more comfortable.
The phrase “contact lenses for dry eyes” refers to new technologies that contact lens manufacturers like Acuvue have created to reduce contact lens-induced dry eye (CLIDE) symptoms, which happen to be the leading causes of people discontinuing contact lens wears for other alternatives.
To solve the problem, you must start by paying a visit to the eye doctor so that he or she may find out the reason behind the dryness symptoms that you are experiencing and decide the optimal solution to ensure your comfort when wearing contact lenses. Some people may avoid telling their optometrist about their contact lens-related dry eyes because they don’t want to hear that they will have to stop wearing contacts thereby and that puts them off. With the new developments in contact lens technology, companies have created specific contacts for this problem and thus users have nothing to fear actually.
Lens Brands That Can Relieve Dryness Symptoms
There are many contact lens manufacturers that have developed new lines of contact lens specially targeted to those who suffer from dry eye syndrome due to wearing contacts. These were designed to bring about comfort to users by reducing the drying effect. One of the popular brands of contact lenses for dry eyes include:
Acuvue Oasys
Acuvue has been around for along time and is a well-known and respected brand in the contact lens industry. Acuvue Oasys are one of the top choices for anyone who wears contacts, especially for those who suffer from dry eyes or stare at a computer screen for more than 4 hours per day. With their patented Hydraclear Plus, these lenses feel as if you had just popped them on hours later. The water content is what keeps the lenses soft and pliable for the whole day. As a bi- weekly lens, it is best if they are removed every night to be cleaned and re-moisturized in a saline solution for more comfortable wear the next day. Rating: 4.75/5

In the past, astigmatism was corrected by wearing glasses (besides other treatments available at the time). However, nowadays contrary to what some may believe, people with astigmatism can wear contact lenses with the variety of contacts on the market specifically targeted at those who have astigmatism.
Here is one of the most popular types of contacts available for those with astigmatism:
Toric Contact Lenses
The word “toric contact lenses” is normally used to describe specially made soft contact lenses that rectify astigmatism. The majority of toric contact lenses for astigmatism are in fact soft lenses — manufactured either with a standard hydrogel substance or a highly breathable silicone hydrogel. However, there exist toric contacts designed with rigid gas permeable (GP) material as well.
Toric soft contact lenses designed for cope with astigmatism differ from the ordinary spherical soft contacts that only correct hyperopia or myopia in two crucial manners:
- Toric lenses have powers that are distinct in varying meridians of the lens to correct the different amount of nearsightedness or farsightedness in differing meridians of the eye that denotes astigmatism.
- Toric lenses have a quality that allows for the lens to rotate to the proper position on the cornea in order for the power meridians of the lens to align with the proper meridians of the eye for clear vision.
Due to the fact that every eye with astigmatism is different and unique, more than one pair of soft toric contact lenses may be required in order to find the brand and design that delivers the best fit, comfort and visual acuity. The fitting of toric contact lenses designed specifically for astigmatism requires more skill and prowess than fitting regular soft lenses. It is due to this that getting fitted with toric contact lenses usually is more expensive to get done than going for a regular contact lens exam and fitting session.
Due to the fact that toric contacts possess a more complex design, the cost of replacing them is higher than the cost of regular spherical soft contacts. The difference in cost is contingent upon the lens design, material, and the eye store from which you bought them.
Best Astigmatism Contact Lenses (Toric):
Previously, those who had astigmatism had to deal with it by using glasses. Nowadays, those with astigmatism have a new and better option for them by opting to wear contacts specially designed for astigmatism.
When Acuvue came out with their Acuvue Oasys for astigmatism contact lenses, it provided a big convenience and relief for those who were destined to wear spectacles till the end of their days. With the combination of HYDRACLEAR PLUS technology and BLINK STABILIZED Design this allowed for Acuvue’s new contacts to have both the qualities of comfort and clarity. This was a great breakthrough for those with astigmatism since now they do not have to be held back due to their eye issue. Now with Class I – Acuvue Oasys for Astigmatism protects the eyes with at least 90% UV-A and 99% UV-B radiation protection. Rating: 4.75/5
1-Day Acuvue Moist are also a great option for those with astigmatisms who would rather wear contact lenses over glasses. 1-Day Acuvue Moist gives you the convenience of not having to clean the lenses of your glasses or carry around a case with you. With these contacts, you just put them in, wear them for the day, and then throw them away for a new pair the next morning. And with Acuvue’s BLINK STABILIZED lens design fused with LACREON technology for comfort, you receive clear vision, comfort, and fresh new pairs on a daily basis. Rating: 4.5/5

Are you wearing glasses to better your vision? Are you aware of the numerous benefits you would get if you chose to wear contact lenses instead? Here’s a comparison between glasses and contacts to help you see which would be better suitable to fulfill your vision needs.
When it comes to glasses, a distortion can be created due to the lens and the distance between both of your eyes. Contacts on the other hand are devoid of such issue since they are worn directly on the eye.
Due to the nature of glasses and how they are made and shaped, you get very poor peripheral or side vision. With contact lens your entire scope of vision is in focus, which is particularly crucial for athletes and drivers, where having full field of view is very much needed.
When wearing glasses, you may feel that you are constantly conscious of the frame and lens edge and also the reflections off the backside of your lens. There are no disturbing obstructions, nor are there any reflections in view with regards to wearing contact lenses.
I’m sure you may have very well noticed that your glasses fog up when you go into a warm climate after having been in a place with colder temperature. Didn’t that annoy you? Well, know that contacts do not get foggy in a similar scenario. They stay clear in all cases, at all times, in any weather.
Depending on the type of glasses you have, you may be bothered by its weight on your face and ears. You may also have to get them tightened periodically. With contacts, there is no such discomfort owing to weight, nor will you ever have to get them adjusted.
If you enjoy wearing designer sunglasses when out in the sun, being dependent upon glasses can be an impediment in that regard, preventing you from being able to wear non-prescription sunglasses without either sacrificing your vision or spending a ton of money on getting sunglasses that come with prescription. Wearing contacts alleviates this problem altogether.
Based on the type of glasses you have, they may not match or be suitable with certain outfits you may want to wear, unless you have a variety of glasses in your possession. Contact lenses match with any and every clothing you may desire to wear.
When it snows outside or rains, it can be quite an annoying experience for you if wear glasses, since the lens will collect all that precipitation, then you’d be forced to dry and clean them to be able to see properly. Contacts do not collect precipitation nor will they ever blur your vision.
So with all that has been mentioned, you can clearly see that the advantages of wearing contact lenses overrides those of glasses. This is not to say that there are no drawbacks when it comes to wearing contacts. However, in comparison with glasses, contacts has far more benefits and far less disadvantages.
If you are thinking of switching from glasses to contacts or if you are deciding between the two to correct your vision, then do be sure to consider one of the best contact lens brands on the market today: Acuvue.
The Acuvue brand is well known and provides a wide selection of contact lens for people with different needs. Be sure to check out the various types of Acuvue contacts that we have in stock by visiting us at www.eyelookgood.com.

There are a lot of contact lens brands, and every brand has unique features that can make it the best one to suit you. There is no single brand that is optimal for all users.
About 90% of contact lenses prescribed in the United States every year are soft lenses. Some of the main factors that determine the most suitable soft contact lens brand for you include:
Base curve: The base curve is the principal fitting curve on the surface behind the contact lens. This curve needs to be almost similar to the curvature of the front surface of the eye (cornea).
By conforming properly to the center of the cornea, the surface of the lens will be smooth and uniform for crystalline and undistorted vision.
While you are in the midst of your contact lens fitting, your eye doctor will choose a soft lens brand that contains a proper base curve for the shape of your eye.
Although most of the brands have similar base curves that fit the average cornea well, you may require a lens with a steeper or flatter base curve that only particular contact lens brands feature.
Diameter: The diameter of a soft contact lens is crucial for lens centration and comfort. Depending on your eye shape, you may require a large-diameter lens so that the lens centers correctly on your cornea. If your eye is smaller than the average eye, then you may need a small-diameter lens, generally speaking.
Based on your eyelids and the size of the opening of your eye, you may require a smaller lens diameter to help you in putting on and removing your contact lenses more easily.
Power: Certain brands of contacts contain extended power ranges for elevated amounts of myopia (nearsightedness) and hyperopia (farsightedness). If you require a strong correction, these brands may be most suitable for you.
Astigmatism design: If you suffer from astigmatism and require a toric contact lens, various brands have differing designs to ensure correct alignment of the a toric powers and to reduce lens rotation while blinking and during changes in head position.
Based on your eye’s shape and other factors like the tightness of your eyelids, you may be able to see very well with one brand of toric lens but not so well with another — even if the base curve and diameter of the two brands are similar.
Surface treatments: Certain soft contact lenses come with lens treatments designed to help the lenses stay moist for longer periods of time for greater wearing comfort. If you happen to have dry eyes or your lenses feel dry after wearing them for a few hours, those brands that have these treatments present may be more suitable for you.
The only way for you to make sure which contact lenses are the best suited for you is to go for an eye exam for contacts and a contact lens fitting.
Most of the time, the first contact lens brand your optometrist chooses will produce fantastic results. However occasionally, a few trial lenses may be required to decide the optimal brand for your individual needs.
That is why we would recommend to you to check out the variety of contact lenses offered by Acuvue that is well known for producing good quality lens for people with different vision needs.

Your eyes contain a healthy and comfortable layer of moisture over them, which occur naturally. However, rooms that are too hot or that are air-conditioned, smoke, dust or wind can throw your eyes out of balance and lessen this naturally occurring moisture. Prolonged computer use can also cause this issue, because you tend to blink less in this regard. The result of this is nothing but dehydrated contact lenses and eyes that feel dry or irritated.
Your eyes have the ability to recover on their own. But in the meantime, here’s what you can do to rectify the problem:
- Try to use rewetting drops recommended by your optometrist.
- Wear your contact lenses only as long as your optometrist recommends.

The majority of us in this day and age spend quite a lot of time staring at a computer screen. It is well known that this can have a negative impact on our eyes. Making the right choice when it comes to selecting contact lenses will help in keeping your eyes feeling comfortable when you are on the computer.
Computer screens can affect the eyes in various ways, including:
- Reduced blink rate
- Dry, irritated and red eyes
- Eye strain and tired eyes
- Blurred and variable vision
Contact lenses and computer screens
People blink about once every five seconds, which is 11,000 times daily. However, when a person looks at a computer screen he/she tends to blink less frequently or not as fully. In fact, studies have shown that when people look at a computer screen, they blink five times less than they should to keep their eyes moist and in good health.
Blinking is the body’s natural way of replenishing the tear film that cleans as well as moistens the eyes. Blinking spreads the tears all over the eyes, which helps in keeping them moist and prevents foreign bodies from reaching and irritating them.
If you wear contact lenses, you may be able to notice the effects a computer screen has on your eyes even more. These pointers could help you to keep your eyes comfortable in front of a computer screen:
Reduce the glare
Try to avoid facing a window and make sure that the room is well illuminated. The contrast in brightness between your computer screen and the area behind it can lead to eye stress and discomfort.
Adjust your seat
You ought to look just above the computer monitor in your straight-ahead gaze.
Blink frequently
Make a conscious attempt to blink frequently and fully in order to help to keep your contact lenses moist.
Take a break
Take a 20-second break every 20 minutes. Focus your eyes at least six metres from where you are situated. Keep your eyes constantly moving while gazing at objects at different distances.
Drink lots of water!
Be sure to drink a lot of water to keep yourself as hydrated as possible.
How to find the best contact lenses for computer work?
Changing the types of contact lenses you wear can make your eyes feel more comfortable. For computer work, your eyes would choose ACUVUE OASYS® contact lenses. Their innovative design will keep your eyes feeling fresh and moist. They offer:
- An ultra-smooth, flexible and moist surface, to help reduce that tired eye feeling.

Hereunder we will discuss the benefits of wearing contact lenses as opposed to wearing glasses. There are a lot of people who have turned to contact lenses being very well pleased with them and who say that they will never go back to wearing glasses ever again unless it becomes a necessity.
If you are thinking about whether or not you should switch to contact lenses then it is a must for you to weigh out the pros and cons of both contacts and glasses.
There is nothing that doesn’t come with advantages and disadvantages and contacts are no different either. So, be sure to look into them in order to make a educated and sound decision.
Here are some of the benefits of wearing contact lenses:
- Improved all-round vision
- No glare/light sensitivity
- Easy to use
- Convenient
- Practical for sportspeople
- Better suited to people with a high prescription
- Improved appearance
- Suitable for all weather conditions
- Treats certain eye conditions
- Easy to keep clean
- No artificial barrier
Improved all-round vision
Contact lenses provide individuals with clear peripheral (all round) vision. One of the issues with glasses is that they only allow the wearer to see objects clearly which are in front of them. Anything to the side is out of focus and blurry.
This all round improvement is ideal for sports athletes and motorists where perfect vision is essential. On top of that, your vision feels natural rather than slightly distorted which is experienced when wearing spectacles.
No glare/light sensitivity
The risk of glare is inexistent when looking at a bright light or the sun as compared to glasses. Those who wear glasses find it difficult many a times, when gazing at the sun since this creates glare and makes it strenuous to see.
Easy to use
Contact lenses are convenient and easy to use. They are first placed on tip of the finger and then placed onto the eye in a matter of seconds.
Glasses are also simple to use in that they are put on and taken off the face instantly. However, they can have the tendency to feel heavy or even uncomfortable, especially when it rests on the bridge of the nose.
Convenient
Many a times, this is the main deciding factor between glasses and lenses. People are attracted to contact lenses simply because of their convenience: they are very easy to use and fit in with any situation or environment change.
A quite popular type of contact lenses are the daily disposable ones which are seen as particularly convenient since they do not require any aftercare. These lenses can be worn once and subsequently thrown away once used for the day.
Practical for sportspeople
Athletes may find that wearing glasses could feel awkward and even distracting. Glasses can tend to slip down the nose or become foggy, which can be quite annoying during a competition or a training session.
Safety is also an aspect that should not be forgotten in this regard as well. There is the risk of falling over and breaking a lens or an entire pair of specs, which may lead to serious eye injury.
Better suited to people with a high prescription
A high prescription alludes to the extent of the refractive error, e.g. short sightedness. The higher the number (dioptres) the greater the degree to which the lens bends light as it goes into the eye. This refraction is an indicator of a fault within the lens.
If you have a high prescription then you are said to have a high amount of refraction, which also means seriously blurred vision.
This issue with visual acuity means having to wear glasses with thick, ‘bottle top lenses which can be uncomfortable. However, alternatively you can decide to wear a slim contact lens, which will be hardly noticeable.
Improved appearance
There are those who feel self-conscious about wearing glasses and in some cases, unattractive. Contacts, on the other hand, cannot be detected by the casual observer and enable him/her to see your eyes.
Suitable for all weather conditions
One of the many advantages of wearing contact lenses is the fact that they do not steam up, collect rain or other deposits on the lenses due to the weather. Glasses do have a tendency to get foggy when you go from a cold environment into a warm one. Plus they can become misty when the weather is bad.
Contact lenses are not affected by any of these and are kept clean with a simple blink of an eye.
Treats certain eye conditions
Contact lenses can be efficacious in treating certain eye problems like corneal ulcers or keratitis. Someone who suffers from such eye condition can put on a special bandage lens, which helps to protect the cornea against further damage and also acts as a form of medication.
There are certain forms of contacts, which are able to transfer drugs to an infected cornea or other similar issues with the eye.
Easy to keep clean
If you wear daily disposable lenses then these are worn and then discarded at the end of the day. They do not stand in need of any care or cleaning. Other lenses are cleaned through being soaked in a special solution, which is quite simple to do.
Your eye also acts as a form of cleaner because every time you blink this removes any dirt or debris, which may have accumulated behind the contacts.
No artificial barrier
Wearing contact lenses implies that you do not get the feeling of viewing the world through a sort of screen. On top of that, people are able to see your eyes whereas they seem somewhat hidden when you wear specs.

It can be quite convenient to purchase contact lenses online: a few clicks of the mouse are all it takes. However, you ought to see whether or not buying contact lenses online is really the best option for you.
You have many other options like purchasing contact lenses from your optometrist, optical stores and even large retailers like Sam’s club and Costco. It may be that one of these options is a better alternative for you.
You should be aware that there are dozens of websites online where you could purchase contact lenses, if you do in fact decide to buy them on the Internet. However these sellers are not all created the same.
Here are some questions for you to consider before buying contacts online:
- Do they accept telephone orders? This is a sign that the company is a real “mail order” company and not just some individual with a website.
- Will my order ship right away?A smaller scale company may stock only the most popular and in demand prescriptions. If they have to get your lenses only upon you ordering them, then delivery time may take quite a long time.
While in the process of ordering, a seller worth doing business with should tell you if the product you want is in stock and give you at least and estimated ship date.
(Important note: An online or mail-order seller is obliged, by law, to contact your eye care practitioner (ECP) to substantiate your prescription. The law says your ECP’s office has eight business hours to respond. If your ECP fails to respond within that amount of time, it will be assumed that the prescription is valid and the company can ship the lenses to your location without verification. However, this legal requirement may delay the shipping of your lenses by up to a couple of days.)
- Do I trust this company with my credit card information? You should be aware of the risk involved when buying from companies that you have never purchased anything from in the past nor heard of before. Be sure to research any company in depth before deciding to purchase anything from them like by searching for reviews, ratings, etc.
The Better Business Bureau is another useful resource, which tracks complaints against companies and how those complaints were resolved.
- Is customer service readily available? If there happens to be an issue with the contacts you purchase online, it would be great to know whether you can get the prompt attention you need. A reputable online seller should provide you with a toll-free phone number and an on site contact form. Even if you decide to order online, be sure to try the phone number: if you are responded to with an answering machine, it’s likely a back-room operation.
- What’s the return policy? If you purchase a year’s worth of contacts and your prescription happens to change, do ensure that the company will accept the unopened boxes for credit. Also, ask the company what is the policy of damage of the product while in transit.
- Does the site have an “About Us” page? The website should have credible information about the company, its people and its history, and not simply a vague statement about how they desire to serve you with a vast selection and great service.
Is the ordering process secure? When you reach on a page to enter personal information, be sure to check the URL of the page at the top of your browser. It should begin with “https://” as opposed to “http://” if the page is secure. Also, a padlock icon — locked, not open — should appear in the status bar or elsewhere in the browser when you are visiting a secure page.

If you’re looking to buy the perfect pair of contact lenses, here is a review of two of the most highly rated contact lenses available in the market today.
Acuvue Clear Contact Lenses
The Acuvue Clear contact lenses by Johnson & Johnson are perfect for those using lenses for the very first time. Why? This is because these lenses are known for their clarity and comfort. They are moist, soft and easy-to-wear and help in correcting vision.
A unique material-Etafilicon is used for making the Acuvue Clear contact lenses. It is this material which makes it perfectly soft and offers a natural comfortable fit on the eyes. In addition to this, the lenses also offer adequate protection against UVB and UVA radiations. Hence they end up serving the purpose of shades when you’re standing in sun.
When you change your lenses on a regular basis, it ensures improved clarity and better quality. Manufacturers recommend storing these lenses in a cool environment in a lens-care solution if not in use. The Etalifilicon is a very flexible as well as soft material containing water. This allows the easy passage of oxygen through the Acuvue Clear lenses. Therefore, they are extremely comfortable to wear. It is important to remember that the Acuvue Clear contact lenses are not available for negative powers (in 9.1 BC).
Acuvue Moist Contact Lenses
The Acuvue Moist contact lenses are sold as daily disposable lenses made from the exclusive LACREON™ technology. This technology is capable of locking in a moisture rich agent, which acts like your natural tears. Hence, your eyes are likely to remain fresh and you will feel highly comfortable throughout the day.
The lenses come with Triple Care. This basically means that they provide oxygen, moisture and UV protection for keeping your eyes healthy and comfortable for long hours.
The one-day Acuvue Moist contact lenses have a light blue visibility tint that makes it easier to wear these lenses. This lens is ideal for those who want to avoid feeling the strain in their eyes after the day is over. This typically happens when a lens is unable to retain sufficient moisture. The Acuvue Moist lenses also offer protection against harmful UV radiation. They are capable of blocking about 82 percent of UVA rays and 97 percent of UVB rays of the sun.
Customer reviews
Those who have been using the Acuvue Clear contact lenses on a regular basis have given a very positive feedback for the lenses. They claim that it is the perfect choice of lenses if you need to use them for long hours at a stretch. On the other hand, those using the Acuvue Moist contact lenses claim that they experienced a ‘fresh’ feeling throughout the day.

Issues with eyesight can be a terrible menace, especially when you have to wear glasses. Sure, glasses can make you look good, but they can be an inconvenience. So, if you are looking for a way around, don’t look too far. Acuvue has released some of the most comfortable contact lenses that will make you forget you have vision problems.
Acuvue Define with Lacreon
Acuvue is the leading manufacturer of contact lenses that are made specifically to suit your eyes and needs. Forget your eyesight problems with the 1-Day Acuvue Define. These lenses were introduced to enhance your eyes’ natural beauty without covering up any features. This brand was launched with three designs that seamlessly blend in with the color and patterns of your eyes, giving you a unique look. You can choose from three varieties:
The Natural Sparkle which brightens up your peepers
The Natural Shimmer which sharpen and highlight your eyes
The Natural Shine which enlarges your eyes and gives them a contrasting look
The Acuvue Define brand incorporates the Lacreon technology that combines the lens matrix with a moisture-rich wetting agent similar to natural tears for reduced friction and a supreme level of comfort. These lenses are suitable for near or farsighted problems while enhancing the beauty of your eyes naturally.
Acuvue Moist
Just like the Acuvue Define lenses, the Moist lenses also incorporate Lacreon technology which makes them very comfortable, even at the end of the day. Convenience and comfort are primary priority when it comes to contact lenses, and Acuvue Moist is the type for you. With the embedded wetting agent, you have a soft cushiony feeling on your eye which prevents your irises from drying up.
The Acuvue Moist lenses are disposable, but they have slightly longer lifespan than the Acuvue Define lenses. They can be reused for two or three more days. These lenses are made from a compound called Hydrogel, which retains water just like a sponge. Your irises absorb oxygen from this moisture, which keeps them hydrated and healthy. The Acuvue Moist lenses are great for people with near and farsighted issues as well as astigmatism.
What lenses should you choose?
The choice is pretty simple, really. Both lenses offer you great comfort. The Lacreon technology is excellent at maintaining hydration and keeping your eyes from getting irritated. Both kinds of lenses keep your irises well hydrated and prevent friction for a great end-of-day comfort feeling. The selling point for the Acuvue Define lenses is that they are great if you are looking to enhance your eyes. They add definition and make your eyes appear brighter even without make up. Expect a lot of compliments when you have these on. The Acuvue Moist lenses don’t do much to improve the appearance of your eyes, but they are incredibly comfortable, and if you suffer from astigmatism, this is the choice for you.
